Classical nuclear motion: Does it fail to explain reactions and spectra in certain cases?

چکیده

Is a classical description of nuclear motion sufficient when describing chemical reactions and spectra? This question is interesting because many researchers use in molecular dynamics simulations. The present paper investigates some phenomena that were previously attributed to quantum effects. if these can be modeled with traditional Car–Parrinello dynamics, is, method which treats classically widely applied the simulation spectra. We find for investigated system no additional paradigm needed reactions. special reactivity observed carbenes environment represented by noble gas matrix an transition state was not considered before. Also infrared spectrum porphycene perfectly dynamics. More studies are necessary decide what extent replace mechanical description.

Developmental systems theory: what does it explain, and how does it explain it?

We examine developmental systems theory (DST) with two questions in mind: What does DST explain? How does DST explain it? To answer these questions, we start by reviewing major contributions to the origins of DST: the introduction of the idea of a "developmental system", the idea of probabilistic epigenesis, the attention to the role of information in the developmental system, and finally the e...

Optimal diet theory: when does it work, and when and why does it fail?

Over the last three decades, many studies have attempted to explain forager diets by using optimal diet theory (ODT). Despite some obvious successes, the utility of this theory remains controversial. We reviewed the results of 134 studies of optimal diet theory to test hypotheses on factors that can explain variation in the ability of ODT to predict diets and diet shifts in response to changes ...

Classical nuclear motion in quantum transport.

An ab initio quantum-classical mixed scheme for the time evolution of electrode-device-electrode systems is introduced to study nuclear dynamics in quantum transport. Two model systems are discussed to illustrate the method. Our results provide the first example of current-induced molecular desorption as obtained from a full time-dependent approach and suggest the use of ac biases as a way to t...

Coupled Collective Motion in Nuclear Reactions

In this paper, we review the roles of collective modes in nuclear reactions. We emphaize the strong couplings of various collective states with the monopole and quadrupole motions. In inelastic excitation, these couplings can be seen as an important source of anharmonicity in the multiphonon spectrum. In fusion reaction, the breathing and quadrupole motions strongly affects the oscillation of p...

Why Does Theoretical Physics Fail to Explain and Predict Earthquake Occurrence?

1. The multidimensional character of seismicity: time, space, and earthquake focal mechanism need to be modeled. The latter is a symmetric second-rank tensor of a special kind. 2. The intrinsic randomness of earthquake occurrence, necessitating the use of stochastic point processes and appropriate complex statistical techniques. 3. The scale-invariant or fractal properties of earthquake process...
